The integration of EPCIS Event Data with the growing offer of online mapping services allows web applications to represent supply chain information in a friendly manner. Auto-ID Lab MIT has developed a Location Service called GEOEPC and its goal is to link EPCIS data with one of these mapping services. Basically, GEOEPC adds to EPCIS the following two capabilities:
1. Inventory Visibility: It analyzes EPCIS Event Data files and integrates their supply chain information into the online mapping service. After processing the data, those locations lodging EPC tags are shown by markers placed on the map. A complete list of the EPCs at a certain location is obtained by hovering the mouse over the markers.
2. Product Tracking: Given a collection of Even Data files captured at different instants in time, GEOEPC can analyze every file and combine their information. Hence, the trip of a product through time is shown on the map by selecting a concrete EPC on the application. For each readpoint, time and date information is provided. |
